BOC Series Returns in November
Building Operator Certification

Austin Utilities’ Building Operator Certification (BOC) Level I class is scheduled to take place in Owatonna, Minnesota starting November 7, 2007.

The BOC class, presented by Austin Utilities, Owatonna Public Utilities, and Rochester Public Utilities, is a competency-based training and certification program that educates facility operators and managers on energy efficiency for all aspects of building management and maintenance.

Due to high demand, this will be the second offering of the BOC class within the past year. The first class successfully graduated 26 participants in May 2007.

The program content trains operators to identify and implement long term annual energy savings and electric peak demand reduction opportunities as an integral part of their operations and maintenance activities. As a certification program, the BOC seeks to establish a recognized professional credential for building operators.

BOC training is offered at two levels: Level I and Level II. Level I training emphasizes energy-efficient building maintenance practices. Level II stresses advanced equipment troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
